Westchester Teen Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Woods, Police Say

A 19-year-old man was arrested after allegedly driving his vehicle into a wooded area while driving drunk.

Franklin Martinez, of Peekskill, was arrested around 10:43, p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 31, after Yorktown Police responded to a report of a vehicle in the woods on Hanover St., said the Yorktown Police.

When officers responded to the scene, they found Martinez was allegedly drunk, was driving without a license, and had committed several traffic violations, police said.

A breath test showed Martinez was driving with a blood-alcohol level over 0.8 percent, police said.

He was charged with DWI, DWI with a BAC over .08 percent, speeding, failure to maintain lane, unsafe lane change, driving without a license, and improper plates.

Martinez was released on his own recognizance to a responsible party and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 12.
